THE LEGACY OF MAURICE BÉJART RETURNS TO PERALADA, MORE PRESENT THAN EVER
This year, in commemoration of the tenth anniversary of the death of the great choreographer Maurice Béjart and the thirtieth anniversary of the year that the ballet moved from Brussels to Lausanne, the company is keeping the legacy of its great master more alive than ever. Béjart fête Maurice will be kicking off the 31st edition of the Festival, with two performances. A show designed by Gil Roman as a tribute to one of the most important figures in the history of dance. Master and disciple meet again on a single stage, where they engage a dialogue through movement. t’M et variations is the new choreography by Gil Roman. Here, the artistic director shares with the man who was once his director the diverse experiences of the company in the last 10 years of his absence. The second part, which bears the same title as the show, is a compilation of passages of different choreographic treasures created by Béjart throughout his career, including 1789...et nous, Héliogabale ou l’anarchiste couronné, Wien, wien, nur du allein, Light, Patrice Chereau (devenu danseur) regle la rencontre de Mishima et d’Eva Peron, Dibouk, Hamlet, Rossiniana and Bhakti. The past and the present of the company converge in a single show. Simply beautiful.
